Urge the justice department to drop all charges against Megaupload.com and Kim Dotcom

Created by G.T. on January 19, 2012

Today (as this Time article shows http://techland.time.com/2012/01/19/feds-shut-down-megaupload-com-file-s...) a website which accounts for 4% of the internet's bandwidth, Megaupload.com, was taken down by the United States and the founder and three employees arrested under charges of copyright infringement.

However, Kim Dotcom (Megaupload founder) is not a citizen or a resident of the United States. Megaupload the company is registered in Hong Kong. The website is mostly hosted outside the US and only had one server in the US, in Virginia.

Megaupload has a history of complying with all DCMA take down requests and they are in no way responsible for user generated content.

The signers of this petition agree that the United States has no jurisdiction to shut down Megaupload
