The NAACP was founded during a time when African-Americans were marginalized at best...murdered and beaten at worst. At that time, we were "colored folk," a term that if used today, would incite anger. Yet, this storied organization still uses the term. I propose changing the name from "The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)," to "The National Association for the Advancement of People of Color (NAAPC)." This change will reflect the changes in our country's culture and maturity as a people.
