We are calling for the cancellation of classes for December 6, 2013. Issues aplenty have led to this decision. Some are safety-related. For instance, driving to campus on icy roads is dangerous and can cause possible injury or fatality to drivers in case of a wreck. Walking to class on icy sidewalks can cause slippage, resulting in possible broken arms, legs, and/or necks and feelings. Also, every university in DFW has cancelled class for Friday December 6th. While SMU should certainly be proud of its individuality, it should not extend this individuality to the extent of jeopardizing the safety of its students. Therefore, class should be cancelled.
