This petition is to establish the need for foster children especially babies to have a lawyer that can represent them and not the system. The lawyer needs to know the case in and out. The foster parents need to be recognized in court as a voice for the children they care for, due to the fact that they spend the most time with the child. Babies are especially vulnerable and need to be represented. It is the child’s inalienable right to lead a safe and happy life.
There also needs to be reform on who gets to make decisions on a child’s life. This should not be left up to a person who doesn't know the child. The decision should be made by many all agreeing. Every person that is involved with foster children needs to be educated on bonding, especially the judges making a lifetime decision.
