urge The Senate of the United States Congress to pass S.J.Res.5 to overturn the ruling of Citizens United Vs. The FEC

Created by D.L. on April 12, 2016

S.J Res. 5 would call for the passage of a constitutional amendment that would overturn the effects of The Citizens United VS. The FEC and McCutcheon Vs. The FEC regarding campaign finances, unlimited spending, and dark money. This would limit contributions made by corporations, nonprofits, and unions - which are currently unlimited in comparison to donations made by individuals. Currently, individuals are only allowed to contribute up to 2,700$ to an individual candidate. Whereas, corporations, nonprofits, and unions can create a Super PAC and donate an unlimited sum of money to any candidate of their desire. By passing S.J.Res 5, and creating a new constitutional amendment, politicians' campaigns will again depend on public support, which gives power back to American Citizens.
