Urge the State Dept to vigorously defend Meriam Ibrahim, in Sudanese jail slated to be killed for being a Christian.

On Thur, May 15, Sudanese Christian Meriam Yahya Ibrahim was sentenced to death by hanging for being a Christian. After delivery of her child she will receive 100 lashes, followed by hanging after weaning. Her husband and children are American citizens, although the State Dept is anemic in acknowledging this fact. Ibrahim's father, who was Muslim, abandoned the family when she was young, and she was raised Christian by her Orthodox mother. Her 20 month old son is prevented from going into the father's custody because he is a Christian as well. She is a physician and is prevented from getting the proper medical care she needs in prison, as well as receiving beatings. Her husband, Daniel Wani has been trying to get her a visa for nearly 2 years prior to this. morningstarnews
