Supreme Court Rule 12 states: “the petitioner shall file 40 copies of a petition for a writ of certiorari”. Rule 29 states: “three copies shall be served on each other party separately represented in the proceeding.” Each year 7000-8000 petitions containing on average 100 pages are submitted. Thus, over 20 million pages are wasted yearly. Federal Courts' Rules are not better.
42 U.S.C §4321 states: “to promote efforts which will prevent or eliminate damage to the environment and biosphere and stimulate the health and welfare of man; to enrich the understanding of the ecological systems and natural resources important to the Nation"
We urge Supreme Court, and Federal Courts, to discontinue these unreasonable Rules, respect the Act of Congress, and adopt a paperless and green policy.
