Urge the United States Olympic Committee and Committees of other nations to boycott the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi

In response to a recent vote by the Russian Parliament restricting free speech of homosexuals, we request the administration urge the US Olympic Committee to withdraw from the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. The Duma voted 436-0 in favor of banning "propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations." It is expected to pass and be signed by Putin. In a Feb. poll, 85% of Russians objected to same-sex marriage and 87% to pride parades. Same-sex marriage support is down from 14% to 5% in the past three years, 27% believe homosexuals need psychological aid, 16% propose isolation, 22% compulsory therapy, and 5% "liquidation" of gays. 23 openly gay athletes participated in the 2012 Olympics, with 10 of them winning medals, including all from the US. Please support them by standing with their rights.
