According to the New York Times, the SS United States Conservancy may have to sell the ocean liner for scrap. There are many reasons why the White House, US Government agencies, private donors and citizens should not let this happen & support her preservation.
Few people can differentiate a transport orientated ocean liner versus a pleasure voyage cruise ship. The latter suffer norovirus outbreaks, the former glamour, sophistication, troopship conversion in wartime.
Think White Star Lines' RMS Titanic, Olympic or Cunard's Lusitania, Queen Mary, QEII. Except, these are UK/HM Gov. flagged ships; some are floating, too.
The US has a refined, proud legacy of superior ocean liners, a history of patriotic, stellar seafaring and a Neptunian national character! Save the SS United States!
