Urge the Veterans Administration (VA) to hire qualified Art Therapists at each and every VA hospital in this nation.

Created by S.N. on January 12, 2013

For many years the American Art Therapy Association has been supporting research of the use of art therapy/expressive therapies in helping our growing veteran population. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Military Sexual Trauma (MST) and many other conditions associated with military service can be helped theraputically with Art Therapy. Currently very few military hospitals employ Expressive Therapists.
Nearly every civilian hospital/treatment center has some form of art therapist, dance or music therapist on staff.
As an army veteran and a graduate level art therapy intern, I am uniquely aware of the benefits that art therapy has to offer our veterans. Cathy Malchiodi, MA, ATR is the leading authority on military mental health and art therapy. She should lead the effort.
