We must make a public call for political reform. To date, Saudi Arabian authorities have responded with repressive measures against those suspected of taking part in or supporting protests or expressing views critical of the state. Protesters have been held without charge and incommunicado for days or weeks at a time, and some are reported to have been tortured and otherwise ill-treated. It's time to fundamentally change the relationship between the United States and our one of our most important Arab allies. Their domestic policy is completely mis-aligned with our founding principles. It's time to use our significant leverage to effect change.
