The U.S. government has committed more than $5 billion in bilateral economic and non-lethal security
assistance to the Palestinians, who are among the world’s largest per capita recipients of international foreign aid. This aid is provided by the American people with the understanding that the Palestinians will move toward peaceful coexistence with Israel and a “two-state solution.” This means the Palestinian Authority must come to the negotiating table without condition and end incitement toward violence. So far they have refused.
The Obama administration should make it clear that there are strings attached to U.S. aid and that Palestinian Authority's failure to come to the negotiating table without condition and end incitement toward violence will have financial penalties.
