A child should be given the citizenship of the mother at the time of birth.
Background: Anyone born in the US is given US Citizenship. This is also known as "jus soli" (Latin for "right of soil"). This had its place in American history, but is only causing problems now.
This should be changed to giving the child citizenship of the parent. This is one form of "Jus sanguinis" (Latin: right of blood). This is common in many countries around the world and should also be adopted in the US now.
