The US should offer debit cards which can be bought world wide instead of buying dollars. Consumers who have a need of foreign currency can then buy dollars from banks or money exchange and have the money deposited on these cards. The US can then start earning a transaction fee from merchants world wide for consumers using these cards for trade. This card should also be available with the US, consumers can choose to credit the card with money directly from their accounts or when they buy goods at a store and want the change deposited to these cards. Bottom line is the transaction fees can give the US Government income to help reduce the deficit. Think about it consumers world wide use Dollars to trade, the US government will be getting a transaction fee with every transaction
