The US gov should create & maintain a fully open source and secure OS for fed systems; not to use closed source vendors.

This petition is to encourage the federal government to create and maintain its own open source and secure operating system for federal systems. The hope is that over the long term this will spurn competition in the private sector, provide a fully reviewable and secure code base for critical information systems, end reliance on a monopolized commercial sector, and save money relating to government operations.
