The US government's support of democratic changes in Ukraine should not be extended to extremists with automatic weapon

Created by P.O. on March 11, 2014

While the world cannot directly alter Putins course of action, it can help Ukraine to address those problems that served as a pretext for Putins invasion of Crimea.
Radical nationalists with weapons from looted military arsenals pose a serious source of social instability. The US government should not support vigilante extremists who have been terrorizing citizens, local authorities, members of parliament, and even the newly appointed government. The fact that they are capable fighters, who played an important role in the overthrow of Yanukovich, does not excuse their intimidation of other citizen and vigilante justice.
Recent massive distribution of weapons in the West Ukraine creates risks and fears on the East that one half of a divided society may dominate and humiliate the other half.
