Riders are placed on bills by congressional representatives to pass unrelated and controversial provisions that would not be able to pass if placed on its own separate bill.
This is one of the main reasons why many laws that would benefit the American people fail and why many laws that would be a detriment to the American people pass.
By not allowing congressional representatives to add riders, the American people would be able to determine what a congressional representative actually stands for based on their voting record. Therefore, it is in the best interest of representative democracy to allow the American people to be able to ascertain this knowledge by banning the use of riders on bills.
