The free market is a powerful force for producing the goods and services we all use. However, the need for private industry to maintain profitability often limits the investment of funds for critical scientific research. Also, some research topics are considered too costly to invest in all together.
We, the people, must invest our public funds if we want real progress in advancing our medical, technical and scientific capabilities as a nation.
*We have the people- many young and underemployed scientist and engineers, competing for the few jobs available.
*We have the money- we waste incredible sums of tax money subsidizing outdated industries and over spend on defense.
I propose an overhaul of public research investment mechanisms and the bureaus that mange them.
