Use the bully pulpit to promote an accelerated version of the Open Fuel Standard Act

Created by B.G. on June 03, 2013

Most new cars sold in the U.S. are built with engines designed and certified for various liquid fuels, including any mixture of gasoline, ethanol, methanol, and butanol. The firmware used in the engines outside the Brazilian market does not automatically adjust to these fuels. The fuel seals used are specifically often the wrong type. Why? Because foreign oil states and oil companies around the world are major stakeholders in and/or partners with many of the auto companies. There is a vested interest in keeping the world using gasoline. The only way to fight this is by requiring that new gasoline-using car models have this feature fully implemented. Break the monopoly. Mandate choice.
