WHEREAS Colorado and Washington have voted to legalize marijuana for recreational use, we herewith petition the federal government to prohibit this action, honor our country’s international drug treaties and enforce the federal Controlled Substance Act (CSA).
Scientific evidence confirms marijuana causes brain damage, birth defects, mental illness and crime while adversely affecting education, welfare and traffic safety; and it inflicts an enormous economic cost on America. We urge you to use all resources at your disposal, including economic sanctions, against states and local communities who defy federal law.
