The Spanish-American war is a part of our country's history with very few historical landmarks. It was recently discovered that a fort built to defend against the Spanish has been on private land since the early 1900's. A private owner bought the land at auction and plans to tear down the fort to build a private residence. The land owner has offered to sell the property to the North Florida Land Trust for more than a reasonable amount. If they are unable to raise the money he plans to destroy the fort to make way for his house. This property should belong to the American people and eminent domain should be used to obtain the property with appropriate compensation for the owner David Radcliffe.
