President Obama, with over 1000+ studies indicating the medical efficacy of Cannabis, isn't it time we reviewed it's place in the Controlled Substances Act (CSA)?
Currently Cannabis is a Schedule I drug.
Schedule I in the CSA is defined:
1. The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse.
2. The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
3. There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.
Cannabis, by having recognized medical value should not be in this class. Correctly it should be Schedule IV. We're asking that you use an Executive Order to put it in Schedule II, the same schedule that cocaine is in, until further clinical research merits its placement in Schedule IV.
