We morn for the victims of all tragedies but we believe that the recent effort to ban "assault weapons" is unjust and devoid of logic beginning with the following reasons:
-The 2nd Amendment affords us the right to posses these guns categorized as "assault weapons" and we do not consent to the government to deny these to law abiding citizens.
-The coined term "assault weapon" refers to a semi-automatic rifle that looks like a fully-auto military-style rifle but function the same as every other semi-auto rifle. We do not believe making a cosmetic design illegal is effective in promoting safety.
-These guns are used in a small fraction of all violent crimes and are no more dangerous than any other weapon, firearm or otherwise.
