use the Federal Communications Commission to reform the election campaign process. The airwaves belong to the People.

Created by M.B. on December 07, 2011

In the current campaign process the public is subjected to endless and repetitive commercials from candidates, political parties and political action committees. There are too few forums where the candidates actually say what they believe. The FCC needs to create rules that mandate that as a condition of receiving a license to broadcast, the station must make one hour a day during prime time available for candidates to either debate, or answer questions from the public. All candidates may participate as long as they are on a ballot in the area. No other political advertising will be allowed on the airwaves. Politicians need to express their views, not repeat catchphrases. Politicians must express practical solutions to problems, not blame. Voters should vote based on issues.
