use Federal dollars to expand armed School Resource Officers in schools nationwide, creating safer schools and jobs

Created by C.L. on December 15, 2012

Gun control legislation alone does not address safety once an armed intruder is inside the school. Schools need to have an increased presence of trained, armed guards to quickly respond to a violent intrusion.

The National Center for Education Statistics show there are 132,183 public and private K-12 schools in the United States for the 2009-10 school year.

Please pass legislation to immediately create a national School Resource Officer program, which would work with state and local government to place an adequate number of SRO's in schools. This will create both jobs and increased safety and security for all students and teachers.

The program needs to include specialized training to work with students and non-violence crisis intervention and additional resources for prevention
