It should be clear by now that military intervention does not achieve our desired results in the middle east. We need creative thinking. What if we responded to the crisis in Syria with extraordinary generosity in helping the refugees and supporting those countries hosting the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees? To work this would have to have the same shock and awe around the world as a military attack might have. It has to be over the top, 10x what we might normally do to support those organization currently assisting with the crisis. If we show we care about the people we might win friends for a generation. The war in Syria will eventually come to an end, the refugees will return home and carry with them the memory of being fed, clothed, housed by a generous United States!
