Why are we still doing taxes the way we did in the 90s? (I go out and buy Turbo Tax, then type in all my w2, 1099, etc. forms - all of which say "this information is supplied to the IRS".)
This petition is asking President Obama to use his authority and reassign 10% of the computing gurus in the NSA and other government institutions (who scan our emails and facebook posts to confirm we're not terrorists), to use their skills for 3 to 6 months and design a system that gathers all this information "supplied to the IRS" or otherwise supplied to the government and present us with a simple web page that summarizes all our tax information and allows us to quickly file our taxes.
The aim should be that even a complex individual tax filing should take at most, 15 minutes.
