Use its resources to secure the immediate release of Luke Somers, an American photojournalist, from his al-Qaeda hosts.

We wish to appeal to you on behalf of Luke Somers who is the subject of our deepest concern. Luke Somers, a photojournalist and an American citizen, was kidnapped in September 2013 and is being held by al-Qaeda (AQAP). Luke is a respectful guest and photojournalist in the Yemeni community. Luke’s scholarly and personal interests led his heart to the Middle East. His work makes him an innocent messenger of the Yemeni people’s struggle.
AQAP has now threatened his life in a recently released video. We appeal to you to act with the utmost urgency. Luke’s mother is alone with few resources and has returned to work since her oldest son was kidnapped. As Luke’s friends, family, and supporters, we request President Obama and his administration to devote resources to bringing Luke Somers home.
