use one international inspection standard for existing properties receiving federal funds.

Created by K.R. on February 14, 2013

We petition to use one international inspection standard for existing properties receiving federal assistance. Require the use of the most current International Existing Building Code or International Property Maintenance Code published by the International Code Council. This would bring the federal programs up to date with the actual international code community, provide clarity and use an established review and change process. Programs receiving federal assistance at present use different inspection standards which create confusion, frustration and lack of coordination between federal programs and private funding. Abolish the Section 8 Housing Quality Standards and the UPCS Uniform Physical Conditions Standards; they are antiquated, arbitrary and add to the government red tape.
