A simple idea to pay down the national debt. Add one penny to every product and service being sold in the United States to be put towards paying down the national debt. This would generate large amounts of money everyday to pay down the debt. Make it law that this money can only be used to pay down the national debt and nothing else. Once at least half of the national debt has been payed down, the extra penny on all products and services being sold can be removed. While this is happening congress and the president should find ways to rein in spending so that the debt doesn't go back up once the penny is removed.
