Poverty is a widespread problem in this country that needs a comprehensive solution. Here is one way to address the poverty problem and provide large, profitable companies with the opportunity to give back to the community and help those less fortunate.
Corporations receiving tax breaks in excess of $50,000 should be mandated to give 30% of the tax break to fund currently existing programs that help the needy such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); the Public Housing Assistance Program or the Emergency Food Assistance Program.
This new policy would not entail new government expenditures and would help reduce the burden of poverty on low income citizens.
