I realize that most times the elected president wins both the popular vote and electoral, but I fear that many people do not vote because of the current system. Many Californians don't bother voting republican because they know they are severely outnumbered in their state and feel like their vote will not count. The same is true for democrats who don't vote in Texas. People not voting because they know there is no way they can outnumber the opposing side in their state could be altering the popular vote significantly. If the popular vote really mattered then more people would vote. More people voting would paint a clearer picture of America's voice as a whole. Giving every vote more weight might reunite this nation that is quickly dividing.
