Use the power of the executive branch to reschedule marijuana as the Controlled Substances Act allows.

Created by S.P. on January 09, 2013

Request the Obama administration to assign the Attorney General to research the re-categorization of marijuana based on the current scientific knowledge under Title 21 United States Code Controlled Substance Act.

When the AG returns with a recommendation to change the categorization then proceed to re-categorize and/or remove marijuana from the list of drugs affected in the Controlled Substance Act.

This will circumvent the need for contentious Congress to take appropriate action. With two states now taking steps towards legalization and many other states allowing medical use, now is the time to rectify the conflict between state and federal law and to reduce the economic carnage caused by locking up people in a costly war on marijuana that does more harm than marijuana itself.
