to use the Power Pardon to release Oscar Lopez Rivera political prisoner from prison after serving more than 32 years

Created by M.D. on April 15, 2014

Honorable President Barrack Obama, We The People request clemency and pardon of political prisoner Oscar Lopez Rivera who has served 32 years of a 70 year sentence for his affiliation and participation in the movement for the independence of Puerto Rico. Oscar was offered clemency by President Bill Clinton back in 1999, but refused to accept due to his conviction in supporting his friend and patriot Carlos Alberto Torres, who was later released from prison in 2010.
Oscar is now 70 years old, and he demostrates no threat to society. Before encarceration, he was a well respected community leader and organizer.
As you idolized Nelson Mandela "...The world is grateful for the heroes of Robben Island, who remind us that no shackles nor cells can match the human spirit", so is Oscar such hero!
