Use the Presidents' power as Commander in Chief to direct our armed forces to recognize same sex marriages.

On January, 21,2013 President Obama spoke these words: "Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well." The fact that married same sex couples are discriminated against by our armed forces must be remedied as soon as possible. These couples are denied numerous rights and benefits that are conferred by the military on heterosexual married couples. The rights and benefits denied to same sex couples include medical and dental insurance, survivors benefits, discounted housing, treatment in military hospitals, spouses are even denied military ID cards which provide access to many community activities and services available on base.
