In light of the recent confrontations in North Dakota, but also because of the continual impacts of oil spills on our environment and our health, we want oil to be transported on rail instead of through pipelines. If this means building new rail and/or strengthening our existing rail system, then those things should be done by all means, and not only for shipping oil, but for any products and for commuters. This will reduce the chance of an oil leak and contribute to getting more cars and trucks off the road. The problems facing North Dakota highlight our need for a better rail system.
