The President must take the immediate opportunity of the Senate being in Recess to appoint a Justice to the Supreme Court to fill the vacancy left by the recent, untimely death of Justice Scalia. In light of the statement made by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell who has insisted the next administration should make the appointment, the President should assume that the Senate will block any nominee he makes and prevent him exercising his Constitutional Right of appointment. Therefore, he must serve the people who elected him by appointing during the Senate Recess before the Senate returns to session. We urge the President to make an appointment immediately.
