Make use of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act to break up monopolies like Wal-Mart that have a strangle-hold on the American worker. Companies like Wal-mart have overtaken a multitude of smaller businesses that often hired more workers and paid better wages. Wal-mart type companies may offer cheaper products but it comes at a steep cost to our economy. Companies like Wal-mart take advantage of the social welfare system by denying workers benefits and suppressing wages. In turn, their employees are forced to apply for programs like food stamps and medicaid. This is one of the main reasons our social welfare system is overburdened. In a free society, the employers should not be the beneficiary of social welfare. A democracy is is only as strong as its weakest link.
