With the economic situation causing another round of cuts in education, higher education institutions should look at reassessing how they parcel their money. Millions of dollars have been cut from educational institutions' funding due to state budget crises; thus, many college systems once again raised tuition and fees on students--those who cannot already afford it. This leads to each student incurring debt on top of debt.
Looking at college systems and their athletic program funding, including how much their coaches get paid, should be a top priority in higher education discourse.
Reapportioning these huge stores of school funds would benefit the educational system and provide a boost towards better classes, more teachers, and help lower tuition.
