use tax income wisely, start worrying about the environment while we still can, and start using renewable energy.

I think there is good enough science and evidence now that our actions are having an impact on the environment. If no one cares about future generations, then we might at well keep doing what we are doing. But if anyone thinks that there is a reason to protect the human race, we need to make some changes. First, we need to be more responsible with finances, because economic collapse, although not race threatening, could be devastating for many people. Also, we need to start protecting the planet. We need to at least make an effort to start using more renewable resources, cause that's all that will be here some day, and it would be a shame if we got to the point where we needed to use renewable resources to survive but didn't have the infrastructure to accommodate our needs.
