Social Security and Medicare are "Paid Benefits", that is, benefits the public has paid for or paid towards. They are not "entitlements" that come as a matter of right. Inclusion as entitlements makes those payments akin to welfare instead of payments toward retirement, as are 401K. It is time that BOTH parties acknowledged that the taxpayer is attempting to pay their own way to retirement and it is the Congress of the United States and their policies, that are interfering with that action.
