Idea: Put this money to good use and get the unemployed back to work. Provide $5,000 to employers who hire an Unemployed American to a full time job for at least 1 year.
Why: The new employee will contribute to economic growth, stop receiving unemployment benefits, pay income taxes, generate payroll taxes, get health insurance and feel productive. Employers get a real incentive. If businesses hire 30% of the unemployed (4.2 million), the cost is $21 billion (18% of unspent stimulus funds). The benefits easily offset the cost.
