UN countries like the UK have the highest violent crime rate in EU due to the fact criminal gangs do not obey gun control laws and some cities are extremely dangerous due to disarmed law abiding sane citizens, many die in the crossfire of gang wars. Self defense with a firearm should be a basic human right, all semi automatics purchasable by sane law abiding adults, with background checks.
As Mao said 'political power comes from the barrel of a gun', many countries have paramilitary style heavily armed police and most UN nation citizens would be helpless against the rise of another communist or fascist dictatorship. The US needs to propose a treaty to make the right to bare arms a basic human right globally as many countries would be helpless to a terrorist coup/brutal 1984 dictatorship
