The level of involvement in social media under President Obama had been a ray of hope, but we have seen how the administration's efforts seem to have been limited to its messages to voters. We may be able to send messages to the White House, but there is no evidence this affects the administration's positions. When "We the People" was announced we believed the administration had developed a method of hearing and engaging the people, but reviewing the first responses has shown the focus is still on pushing the administration's status quo policies regardless of the facts and inconsistencies addressed by voters. Social media can be used for interacting and exchanging ideas with voters and not simply for begging, self congratulation, and reiterating the administration's stated positions
