Image yourself at your home waking up in the morning, now imagine stepping into your restroom to your commode backed up to the brim with excrement. This is a daily problem onboard USS George H W Bush (CVN77). During the engineering and design for the Navy's newest carrier it was decided that Northrop Grumman would install a Vacuum Collection Holding and Transfer (VCHT) system identical to those installed on smaller ships and aircraft. The system is not sufficient for such a large platform, the piping is far too small (1.5") to support the massive load. Head down time for our Sailors far exceeds the up time. The system is extremely sensitive to what is flushed, and in a perfect world the system works. I am requesting that this issue is addressed ASAP at the highest level possible.
