utilize all resources and connections to insist on immediate intervention to end the immanent genocide in Burundi.

In the East African country of Burundi, there has been severe violence following the controversial run for a third-term by President Nkurunziza in April, 2015. More than 400 have been killed and the death toll is rising. The African Union stated that they will not allow the current situation to escalate into the genocide that took place in neighboring Rwanda in 1994, but has taken no action to stop the atrocity. At this time the United States must pull resources and connections to apply pressure to the African leaders and the UN, and use American resources to stop these crimes against humanity. If the U.S. does not apply the needed pressure, violence will escalate, and spill into neighboring countries. This will have great impact on the economic and social structure of Burundi and Africa
