VA hid the fact that widows can continue to get spouses benefits & they need to give all the widows/widowers back pymts

Created by J.B. on May 22, 2014

Husband was receiving benefits for injuries sustained in VietNam at the time of his death due to a car accident on 10/4/1982 (non-military). The military came to see me 10/5/1982 because I was married to him at the time of his death. They informed me of the I believe 255.00 burial amount I would receive, the Flag and the Color Guards but that’s all they informed me of.
I have found out I have or had rights to his financial benefits as his widow and also a letter from the President at his time of death. Now all this was of course before the internet and I was a 30 year old widow in shock. They now say “Too bad too late”. I should have been informed immediately by the military just as I was informed about his burial/Color Guard and flag.
