validate studies that daylight savings time (DST) has no economic or national security value and abolish DST in the USA.

Created by M.F. on March 08, 2015

Studies have shown that there may be no economic or energy benefit from daylight savings time (DST); that the energy saved as a result of gaining an extra hour in the evening is offset by the need to use more energy in the morning hours. As the United States has transitioned from an agrarian, to industrial, to service based economy, the 20th century benefits of DST may no longer be valid. The Departments of Energy and Commerce should be tasked to review the economic and energy costs and savings of DST in an effort to determine whether these policies are effective. Recognizing states' rights to implement DST, the federal government should make the results of these studies available at the state and local level and the White House should advocate for the plan that makes the best sense.
