Very clearly call upon local authorities to refrain from any violence against peaceful protesters.

Created by J.G. on November 19, 2011

On January 28, 2008, you declared to the world "I want to be very clear in calling upon the Egyptian authorities to refrain from any violence against peaceful protesters. The people of Egypt have rights that are universal."

Less than four years later, you have been deafeningly silent regarding the events that have been unfolding across our very own nation. Local law enforcement agencies have repeatedly teargassed and bludgeoned nonviolent protestors in order to disperse them. It should be obvious to them that violence is not tool to be employed to enforce compliance, and your administration has failed to make it so.

We demand that you immediately and clearly condemn and forbid the use of violence against protestors employing peaceful tactics, no matter how effective those tactics may be.
