We, The People, demand our tax dollars, which bailed out Goldman Sachs and other credit default swap gamblers be repaid. We are also appalled with the wholesale foreclosures by those same companies on families who conscientously paid on their mortgages and only asked for some simple restructuring - under Federal Law - allowing them to continue paying off their mortages and stay in their homes. This is just as destructive to our nation as any unemployment figures.
Our IRS has sophisticated algorithms to "flag" certain tax returns for further scrutiny. I suggest our Treasury Dept should require all future home foreclosures pass through similar algorithms to flag and kick out those which don't seem correct. The bailout companies can then defend those foreclosures; or not.
